DryGair Experience 2026: A Day to Remember at De Ruiter Experience Centre

Featured in HortiDaily. One day before GreenTech Amsterdam, something special happened in Bleiswijk.

On June 8, growers, experts, and partners from across the world gathered at the De Ruiter Experience Centre for DryGair Experience 2026. What unfolded was more than a product launch. It was a room full of people who genuinely believe that growing smarter is the future of commercial horticulture.

The Setting: A Greenhouse That Never Stops Evolving

The De Ruiter Experience Centre is a 2.5-hectare, five-compartment demo greenhouse in Bleiswijk, where Bayer De Ruiter varieties have been grown and tested since 2017. From HPS lighting to double screens, full LED, and now active humidity control, this facility has always been at the cutting edge of modern greenhouse technology.
John van der Knaap, Managing Director of the De Ruiter Experience Centre, explained: “When we started here in 2017, HPS was used, combined with one screen. Over the years, we have continued to develop to remain a key example of a modern-day greenhouse.”
After evaluating several alternatives, De Ruiter identified DryGair as the right solution to achieve the highest possible yield from their crops. The DG-12 50Hz will be installed at the facility this autumn, making it one of the most advanced commercial demo greenhouses in the world. This week alone, 500 visitors are expected at the facility during GreenTech week.

World Premiere: DG-12 50Hz Greenhouse Dehumidifier

The highlight of the day was the world premiere of the DG-12 50Hz, a compact, high-performance dehumidifier designed specifically for dense vegetable crops. Built with Smart Controller capabilities, it allows growers to adjust dehumidification throughout the growing season in real time.
Built on 15+ years of greenhouse dehumidification expertise, the DG-12 50Hz delivers:

  • Water extraction: 43 L/H at 18°C, 80% RH
  • Energy efficiency: 4.5 L/kW
  • Airflow: approximately 20,000 m³/H

Three Moments That Defined the Day

Simon Hansen, Head Grower, Miljøgartneriet AS Norway’s largest vegetable producer shared real numbers from his operation: 67.5% energy savings in a single month, and 59.5% reduction in heating costs for tomatoes over a full growing season. These results demonstrate what active dehumidification delivers at commercial scale.
Eef Zwinkels, Royal Brinkman The son of a tomato grower and a longtime Royal Brinkman professional, Eef championed DryGair for decades before humidity control became mainstream. Now retired, he still showed up, because some things are worth showing up for.
BASF Nunhems, ‘s-Gravenzande The second stop of the day gave guests a firsthand look at the DG-3 50Hz working inside a lettuce demo greenhouse, showing how DryGair performs across different crop types and production environments.

Why De Ruiter and BASF Both Chose DryGair

Two of the most respected names in global horticulture evaluated their options independently and reached the same conclusion: DryGair.
This reflects a shift taking place across the commercial greenhouse industry. As operations transition from HPS to full LED lighting, they reduce energy consumption significantly, but they also face a new challenge. LED generates less heat, which means less passive dehumidification. Active dehumidification is no longer optional. It is infrastructure.
For large-scale commercial greenhouses focused on energy savings, higher yields, and sustainable production, DryGair delivers:

  • Higher yields from the same production floor
  • Significant energy savings, especially in LED-lit greenhouses
  • Sustainable, circular growing through recovered heat and green energy integration
  • A reduced environmental footprint through less ventilation and less energy waste

When the industry’s most advanced facilities choose DryGair, it is a signal that active dehumidification is the foundation that modern greenhouse growing is built on.

A Room Full of Believers

Growers from Portugal, Poland, the United States, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Norway stood together in front of the newly unveiled DG-12 50Hz. A shared understanding that the future of greenhouse growing is efficient, data-driven, and humidity-controlled.
We are humbled by everyone who made the trip and proud of what we have built together.
