“The young gardener has also invested in a dehumidification system that extracts a whopping 40 liters of water per hour, and in that way contributes to ensuring that the conditions for producing a good crop are absolutely present”
Like many growers around the world, Østebø uses DryGair in his 3-hectare tomato nursery. As mentioned, the unit extracts a significant amount of moisture from the greenhouse, allowing for full humidity control and ensuring a good tomato crop.
Benefits of Dehumidification
Using DryGair for humidity control has several benefits. By reducing humidity, you can effectively and organically prevent some of the most common crop diseases, including botrytis and mildew.
Maintaining the ideal relative humidity range in the greenhouse also stimulates the plants. Just like temperature, or light, the plants have a preferred humidity level. When humidity is within this range, the plants take in and process nutrients most efficiently. This ensures ideal growth, large yields and high-quality fruit.
Another major benefit of DryGair is energy savings. Greenhouse growers who use the system report an average of 50% savings on total energy costs.
